“FIRST FLY”-THE BEST EVER (PART 1)

This blog is for those are gonna enjoy the first flight and for those who remember their first flying experience. I am sharing my own first flying experience with all my audience. Do enjoy.

EMIRATES

My first flight was to Dubai and the flight was Emirates. It was from Trivandrum in Kerala. I had heard a lot about Emirates flight like their luxury services and customer satisfaction. So my expectations was beyond the limits. Honestly saying I was little tensed…., actually not a little, greater than that. Because that was the first time where I am gonna go through airport procedures. But that tension was tolerable. Because I was more tensed about the blood-rushing takeoff and the heartbreaking landing.

It was a morning flight. I reached the airport on-time and entered in to the airport at the exact check-in time. Here is an advise for all travelers, even if you are a frequent flyer or first flyer. TIP : ” Do online check-in before reaching the airport through the airlines website and keep a printout. So that you can avoid the normal queue of check-in and the main attraction is you can select any seats available without any fee”. I had did online check-in on the day before the journey and I felt that it was a good decision. I still remember that my seat was 47 K and it was a window seat (Got that window seat through online check-in). So I entered in to the airport by showing my passport and my ticket to the security officers and the first procedure was screening of my check-in luggage and hand luggage. They found a power bank in my check-in luggage and told me to move that to hand luggage. The reality was, I was not aware of such kind of regulations in luggage. Then I moved the power bank to my hand luggage. Actually, that was a difficult process. Because the power bank was at the bottom of my bag. However I managed to do that without wasting a lot of time. Then I went to the check-in counter. Here’s the twist, there was different queue for online check-in and normal check-in, So the process was pretty simple. I gave my passport and my ticket at the counter. Also I gave my check-in luggage too. They weighed that luggage. The weight was little over. Actually 2 Kg more than allowed. “Sir, you have 2 Kg excess than allowed” she said, the ground staff. Then she just smiled and said “It’s ok sir”. How cheering!!!!. Then she issued me the boarding pass and directed me to the immigration section. Now the check-in luggage was gone to the cargo section and the only luggage with me is my hand luggage. TIP : “Make sure that your documents ad all your valuable items are kept in your hand luggage”.

The next procedure was Immigration. I followed the direction boards to reach the section. There was some queue, Because there was no priorities for anyone except VIP persons. At immigration, I gave my passport, visa, ticket and boarding pass to them. They checked that and sealed an entry in my passport. They don’t even asked a word to me. Actually that was a quite simple process than I expected.

It’s time for body screening. It was near to the immigration section. They checked my hand luggage and my body using metal detector. Sometimes they will ask to remove shoe and belt during checking. HOORAY!!!. All the procedures are now over. Now it’s time to find the gate. But before that, I explored the beauty of the airport as I can and saw planes very near to me through glasses for the very first time in my life. Wow!, That was mesmerizing. HOW COOL!!!. My gate number was B 29 and my boarding time was 8.00 AM. So I have more than two hours to explore the enchanting beauty of that airport. It was much beyond my expectations. I walked through every shops in the airport. Now you think I am gonna purchase something!!, NAH. Asked the price of everything in every shop and enjoyed. LOL!!. The time is closing. I found my gate during the announcement for my flight.

Time is 7.30 AM. They called the passengers for boarding to the flight. There are priorities in boarding. They called first class and business class passengers first, the wheel-chaired persons and families with infants. At last it’s time for economy passengers. That means, It’s my turn!!, How thrilling. Now I am walking through the sky-walk. On the middle they checked the boarding pass and wished me “Happy Journey”. The walk continues up to the flight. WOOOOOW, I saw the flight where I am going to be boarded. THE BEAST, THE MONSTER, THE RED IN WHITE BEAUTY. Massive engine’s idling sound. That’s the time. I stepped in to the beast and the Emirates crew invites and directed me to my seat with an awesome smile….

“FIRST FLY”-THE BEST EVER (PART 2)

Stepped inside the fuselage of that beast with anxiety level rising and with the thrill of my first flying experience. The way to the economy class was through business class. I saw the business class cabin for the first time!, How luxurious it was. The money worth it, I bet. I will once will be frequent flyer in that business class, I bet that too. It’s time to enter in to the economy class.

Do you remember my seat number ?. It’s 47 K. It was almost in the back of the flight, Reaching there was a difficult task. B’coz the passage was obstructed by other passengers who loads their hand luggage in to the upper shelf above the seat. So it took a little time to reach the back seats. When I reached there, it was a relief. Each row of seats have their own racks to keep the luggage. I placed my bag in to that rack, But I kept my mobile within my pocket. That’s coz, I want to shoot the takeoff with my phone. Every passengers are now inside the flight. Cabin crew closed and cross-checked the racks for any opening. Here comes the announcement from the pilots. They were introducing themselves to the passengers and they instructed the crew to demonstrate the safety procedures we have to do in an emergency situation. It was pretty interesting. Then I just looked through the window, It was FANTASTIC!!. A row of beasts ready to fly was waiting for their calls like bulls from different territories waiting to fight and to show their strength.

It’s time……. The giant wheels on the beast starts to roll over the tarmac very slowly. But still I can feel the grunt in that bulky engines. The cabin crew checked all the passengers was wearing seat belts and the seats are not reclined. The flight reached the start of the runway and the pilots are waiting for the authorization from the air traffic control tower to reveal the power of the beast. I switched on my mobile camera to capture the takeoff scenes. There was no regulations to use mobile phone in that flight. Finally, The pilots got the call to punch the throttle. The beast starts to move. I can feel the cyclones of air pulled in to the massive engines which thrusts the beast. My adrenaline levels are rushing. At the moment when I feel the flight was in the air, The engines just sounds like DEADPOOL…. I mean MAXIMUM EFFORT!!!. Now the beast is in the air. In my perspective, the take off was much impressive than I heard before from other flyers. GRACIAS EMIRATES. The only thing I felt was in my ear. Like, air is blocked in the ear canal. But that feeling diminished when I reached up in the sky.

The stress was relieved, Seat belts are now off, seats reclined. Moment to relax. I captured the entire takeoff in my mobile phone. I saw the high span wing through my window. The flaps were adjusting according to the speed and the flight altitude. It’s entertainment time. Emirates provides headphones and personal entertainment display behind every seat. The designs of the seats and the display was very sleek and elegant. Each display has its own remote to control the display and also touch screen was enabled in all displays. The remote also consist the buttons for emergency assistance! How clever ?. The crew member will approach us with a single click on that button. My co-passenger was a north Indian. He told me that he was a frequent flyer in Emirates and he always prefer to fly in Emirates due to its luxury, affordability and customer satisfaction. A lot of movies was provided in that entertainment system. I started to watch some movies and another attraction was, In the display we can see the real-time altitude variations, flight speed, distance to cover and and the duration to reach the destination. How sophisticated the technology was. I am impressed.

The beautifully dressed cabin crew started to give food to the passengers. It’s my turn. She asked me whether I want a vegetarian or non-vegetarian food. I am a non-vegetarian. So I preferred non-veg food. The gave me the foll set of dishes. Bun, Butter, Prawns, Rice, Starters, Sweets, Small packet of sweets, Towlette, Pure water, Spoon, Fork and so on. I tasted that food. How fresh it was. Felt like I am in home. Great work Emirates. In my opinion, Emirates flight is kinda 7 star flying luxury. I had all that food and continued to watch movies. The system got a good collection of movies from all languages.

EMIRATES CABIN CREW

On halfway, the flight began to vibrate a little. On the very next moment, the flight altitude descended drastically. Felt like the engine was off for a moment. At that time, I was not wearing the seat belt. The pilot then announced that the flight was in an air gutter and warned the passengers to fasten the seat belts to ensure safety. I too fastened my seat belt for my safety. I continued to watch the system. After having all that food, I felt a little sleepy and slowly…. gradually…. I slipped in to the soft hands of sleep.
